Whatcom Youth Sports is proud to sponsor the 23rd Annual Baker Blast Tournament in Bellingham, Washington. This tournament focuses on bringing in boys' and girls' teams throughout the West to the Northwest Soccer Park for some great soccer! Our 2012 event hosted 186 squads in the Baker Blast! The Baker Blast has a superb history of providing high level boys' and girls' competition, and has a reputation of being a well-organized, first class tournament.

Details

2013 Tournament entry fee: $500.00 per squad. Each squad is guarnateed 3 match minimum with ALL teams playing one match on Friday and two on Saturday. PLEASE NOTE: ALL Teams need to be prepared to play as early as a 2:40 PM match on Friday. Unfortunately we are not able to accomodate all teams to play late evening matches.There will be specific signs indicating both teams and coaches only on one sideline. Spectators on the other sideline. Semi-finals and finals are played on Sunday. Parking is free at the Baker Blast!

Sports Medicine at the Baker Blast
Hopefully you wont need it but if you are injured the Baker Blast has a great sports medicine staff available at Northwest Soccer Park to tend to possible injuries you may have sustained during your matches. The sports medicine tent will be located in the middle of Northwest Soccer Park and can be identified by the first aid flag that will be flying. More details on Baker Blast sport medicine here.

FREE RV PARKING! The Baker Blast will be offering FREE RV Camping on a first come-first serve basis beginning on Friday morning(6/21). RV camping is only in the areas designated on the field map. Please see refer to the field map for the RV Camping section. We kindly request you park so as to best accomodate other campers or you may be asked to re-park to accomodate others. Thank you!

Official Tournament Hotel

Tournament Location: Northwest Soccer Park, 5238 Northwest Drive, Bellingham WA and Ferndale High School and Pioneer Park in Ferndlae.   Northwest Soccer Park is one of the finest soccer complexes in the Northwest, featuring a fully equipped concession building and restroom facility, 31 acres of lush green grass, and a breathtaking view of Mt. Baker.  The Northwest Soccer Park is located in Northwest Washington State, just 10 minutes from downtown Bellingham and 20 minutes from the Canadian boarder. Ferndale High School and Pioneer Park, located 8 minutes away from Northwest Soccer Park will have 3 or 4 high quality grass fields which may be used in the event of the number of teams applied. This region offers spectacular sightseeing opportunities from the mountains to the sea. Hotels, shopping and entertainment are only minutes away.

1.  Complete the online registration-click here to register your squad.

2.  Please pay using check, money order or cashier's check in US Funds or pay on-line with a credit card. Credit card payments are subject to a $15.00 convenience fee. If paying by check please make sure to include your online registration number on your check and payable to Whatcom Youth Sports.
3.  Mail in payment no later than by June 3, 2013 to Baker Blast Tournament, 1225 Civic Field Way, Bellingham, WA  98229. Please note that the tournament at a particular age group may fill up prior to the deadline date and we cannot guarantee acceptance the closer to the deadline of June 3.
4.  Application is not complete until payment is received at the tournament office.
5.  Upon receiving your application, the WYS staff will send an e-mail notifying you we have received your squad's application.

Please note: Out of Washington state teams are required to obtain appropriate travel papers from state or provincial associaton.

CONCUSSION COMPLIANCE

:
All players are required to be in concussion compliance per Washington State Law. If you are an Washington team, your final roster must reflect concussion compliance. If your squad is from outside of Washington, you must have a signed copy of the Concussion Compliance Informed Consent form for each player available for reveiw at check-in. FORMS:

A completed on-line application form along with the entry fee and tentative team roster must be completed no later than June 3. We will continue to accept applications after the deadline date if there is space available, otherwise your check will be returned and you will be placed on a waiting list. 

Team Selection:  The Baker Blast is a select/premier level tournament accepting teams on a "first completed registration, first serve" basis.  Please be advised that certain divisions may fill up prior to the deadline date. You are not considered registered until your online registration is complete and payment is received at the tournament office or payment via credit card online.

Format:  Teams will play in a four team matrix whenever possible and be guaranteed at least three-60 minute games. U11 teams will play 9 a-side on a 50 yd x 90yd field. U12-19 will play 11 a-side on full size fields. Where applicable we will attempt to have two divisions PREMIER (upper level) and COPA (lower level) to provide appropriate levels of competition. We reserve the right to combine or modify age divisions should the need arise to balance competition.

Awards:  1st and 2nd place winners in each division will receive individual awards and one team award. All rostered players and coaches will receive tournament memento.

Entry Fee: $500.00 US funds. Checks or money orders should be made payable to "WYS (Whatcom Youth Sports).". You may also choose to pay online with a credit card, but you will be charged a convenience fee of $15.00. Entry fee acceptance made after June 3, 2013 will be on a as team need basis.  Applications will not be accepted without fees.

Acceptance:   You will receive an e-mail notice of your squads acceptance.

Schedules: We anticipate schedules to be mailed out to you no later then June 12, 2013. We will attempt to accommodate all requests for late games on Friday. However, this is not always possible. Please be prepared to play an early game on Friday as early as 2:40 PM. All teams will be scheduled to play ONE GAME ON FRIDAY and two games on Saturday. Semifinal and finals will be played on Sunday.

Withdrawing from the Tournament: After June 3, teams wishing to withdraw from the tournament must notify us in writing. There will be no refunds issued for teams withdrawing after June 3 Prior to June 3, teams wishing to withdraw must notify us in writing; refunds will be issued less a $35.00 handling fee.
